I was born April 19, 1962 in Dallas TX. to Simon Pipkin and Julia (Heard) Pipkin. My parents divorced in 1968 leaving my mother the responsibility of raising two boys. In 1975 I accepted Christ and was baptized. In 1980 I graduated from Spruce High School and went to Eastfield Jr. College. As a teen I felt the call of God on my life; unfortunately, I ran from the call. October 1985, I was headed to prison for robbery. January 1987, I went to prison for the robbery in 1985. While in prison, I heard the call of God again and I responded by getting baptized again in July 1991. During this time I began to get deeply involved in the WORD. While in prison, I was able to pick up a few more college hours. January 1992, I was released from prison ready to serve the Lord.
"Healing begins when faith meets people exactly where they are."
In April 1992 I turned from the call of God and returned to the street life. God continued to tug at my heart and I moved to Houston June 1995 to get away from the lifestyle that kept me from serving God. In November 1997, I returned to prison on a technical violation. I was accepted into a two-year faith based program June 1999. During this time I heard from God and I answered His call. Upon my release from prison, March 21,2001, I went to The College of Biblical Studies. May 02, 2003, I moved back to Dallas. Soon after my move back to Dallas I made Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church my church home. April 1 2004, I went to work in the ministry for Operation Oasis after volunteering for two months. April 9, 2005 I completed Pastoral training, through the Baptist General Conventions of Texas. I received my license to preach the gospel on May 28, 2005. Feb. 04, 2006 was the first service of Oasis on The Mount Christian Healing Center of which I am Pastor. Oasis on The Mount Christian Healing Center was birthed through the partnership of Operation Oasis and Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church. The vision is to serve the formerly incarcerated and the disenfranchised. I was employed by Prison Fellowship Ministries, as the Re-entry Specialist for the men transitioning from prison returning to the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex in April 2008. I now serve as Church Mobilization Manager,
"In this role I work to engage churches in the programs of Prison Fellowship Ministries which include Angel Tree, Angel Tree Camping, Angel Tree Sports Camp, Outrageous Justice, Advocacy, and Second Chance Month."
Through Operation Oasis, I was certified and trained as a mentor under Prison Fellowship. Since then I have mentored 8 men after their release from prison. In 2005 I was honored by the NAACP, Garland Branch, for an outstanding work in the community in prison re-entry and after-care. Through Operation Oasis I was a panelist for the largest Prison Re-entry Conference in 2005 and served as Co-Host in 2006. I was a panelist and moderator for the first annual Black Brown Summit. I am a guest presenter for WallBuilders 2007 ProFamily Legislators’ Conference. I have (2) certifications through ANTHEM (Alliance for North Texas Healthy Effective Marriages).
Love has been the driving force behind his transformation and ministry. It was love that led him to surrender to Christ while incarcerated and love that fuels his mission to uplift the formerly incarcerated and disenfranchised.
Through Oasis on The Mount Christian Healing Center, he shares God’s love by mentoring, counseling, and advocating for second chances, bringing hope and restoration to those in need.
